Gaming has evolved tremendously since the last 5–10 years. Before, gaming was something to do in your free time to have fun and relax. Still is, but now it’s much more than that. Nowadays, the gaming industry has more opportunities than you could ever imagine.

One of the opportunities that has evolved immensely throughout the years is content creation. That could be in any platform such as YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, Tik Tok and much more. All the big content creators in these platforms make millions every year just from streaming and making content (disregarding sponsors). Now, I am not saying that everyone could have 20 thousand viewers everyday, but streaming and content creation if you do it right, put effort and you are passionate about it, there is a good chance that you can make it your full time job. And what is better than doing what you love everyday and getting paid.

Another opportunity that is in the same boat as content creation kind of, is competitive gaming or otherwise called Esports. This is another sector in the gaming industry that has been evolving a lot these last couple of years. Worldwide type events like the League of Legends World Cup have tremendous viewership online and in person ( even comparable with the biggest sports events) and enormous prize pools which can be up to 2 million per event. Now again, not anyone can be a world champion but, there are thousands of small tournaments with good prize pools for every game and if you win enough of them in combination with streaming it can become a very sustainable income. Also, video game coaching has started to become a thing so there is room for all the competitive gamers!

Moreover, other than pure gaming, other opportunities arise around content creation and Esports events. First of all, being a successful content creator is not quite the one man job that you would think. Job opportunities arise regarding video editors, stream moderators and community managers. As all of these tasks require a lot of time and effort an individual could never do all of these and entertain people at the same time it is mathematically impossible. So, a lot of medium to big content creators invest in having a talented and trustworthy team to help them do their job even better and keep growing. As for Esports events, a bunch of opportunities arise there as well. With so many events and tournaments going on at the same time in so many different games, a lot of personnel is required to pull them off successfully. All these jobs range from event organisers, marketing managers, casters and hosts, production teams ( tech organisers, camera men etc), sales teams and many other roles. Also these events are huge opportunities for sponsors as a lot of people watch them, so a lot of companies want to be viewed and make conversions.

Lastly, I want to briefly mention that there is a lot of demand in the gaming production as well. For game developers, audio experts, marketing managers, game testers and many more. Game production is evolving as well and it is providing a wide variety of jobs that all kinds of people could get into.

Concluding, the gaming industry is a goldmine and it’s only going to get bigger. So, if you are interested in a career in games (disregarding which sector it is in) please go for it, there is plenty of room for talent and the job is going to be very fun and will pay well. The only things you will need are some connections, good vibes and your passion.

That will be all from me. I hope I gave you a small bump of motivation to keep chasing your dreams! Thank you for listening!
